Annual Fête

Taikura Fête - Sunday 15 November 2026

As a state-integrated school, Taikura Rudolf Steiner School receives no funding for school facilities. These are funded from within the school community. Taikura Fête is the most important fundraising event at our school. Taikura Fête depends on EVERY whanau’s help and participation. There are many ways to contribute according to your individual skill and ability.

Each class is allocated one food item at the Real Food Market. This is where the bulk of the income from the Fête is generated. The class is responsible for sourcing ingredients, following recipes, preparing food in a safe environment and storing food hygienically in advance of the Fête.

Parents and High School students also run the Children’s Activities. These include physical challenges (such as jousting and the coconut shy), arts and crafts (such as candle dipping and flower crowns), adornment (such as face painting), magical experiences (such as the Ice Monarch and the Potion House), and early childhood activities (such as the Children’s Shop and crystal panning).

In order for the fête to run as smoothly as possible, and so that we all get some time to play as well as work, we ask that each parent or wha-nau spend half of fête day working on just one stall, rather than attempting to give a little to each of our children’s classes or kindergarten groups. If you have a special skill, such as face painting, or horse handling please volunteer preferentially for these activities.

The Fête also showcases community talent on the Main Stage, and offers crafts and other quality items for sale at the Market Emporium. Taikura Fête usually takes place on the third Sunday in November.
